| It is located to the northwest of the Central Valley, on the Central Volcanic Mountain range, between the bulks of volcanos Póas and Irazú. It includes volcanos Beard and Black Piece, extending from the Stop of the Palm (Moravia) to the Biological station the Forest (Sarapiqui), | Natural and Cultural Resources |
| Its surface includes very humid, rainy and cloudy forests, as well as regions crowned by rocky massive tips and where are cold marshes. In this equipped park we found a number extraordinary of habitats, product of the differences in height, ground, climate and land, such as the mixed deserts, bogs, robledales, madroñales, helechales (compounds by its majority by the Lomaria fern sp of two meters of height and by the dark-brown sphagnum sp), and forests. These cover most with their territory and include extensive robledales whose branches remain loaded of epífitas. | Main Plants |

| 263 species of amphibians and reptiles have been observed than being the most common small lizard, the salamander and the anurous ones more. Between the mammals we found the moose, puma, the jaguar, cariblanco, manigordo, cacomistle, tolomuco and the breñero lion. There are 400 species of birds, within which they excel the quetzal, the crestada eagle, the black turkey hen, the careto carpenter and the eagle arpía. The park protects the average and superior river basins of the rivers Ceibo, Cabagra, fly, Guineal, Singri and Canasta whose main collector is the river Grande de Térraba in the Slope of the Pacific. | Main Attractions |
